We are pleased to welcome ZAL—the Center for Applied Aviation Research—as an exhibitor at Drone Days 2026.
The ZAL in Hamburg is one of the world’s leading research and development platforms for civil aviation. Based on the principle of open innovation, approximately 850 researchers from 35 partners in industry and academia work under one roof, jointly advancing technologies such as smart cabins, automation, and hydrogen applications. For its partners, ZAL offers modern research space for rent, access to interdisciplinary expertise, and a variety of event formats for networking.
Particularly exciting for Drone Days: ZAL is conducting intensive research on hydrogen drones—with flight times of up to 2.5 hours using gaseous hydrogen and over 8 hours using liquid hydrogen. This opens up new possibilities for applications such as monitoring coastal and waterway infrastructure or inspecting pipelines. With this expertise at the intersection of aviation, hydrogen, and automation, ZAL is a valuable partner for the future of unmanned aviation.
