BIMAQ at Drone Days 2026

BIMAQ Bremen will be an exhibitor at Drone Days 2026

With BIMAQ—the Bremen Institute for Measurement Technology, Automation, and Quality Science—we are pleased to welcome another engineering institute from the University of Bremen as an exhibitor at Drone Days 2026.

About 20 international scientists at BIMAQ are conducting research on innovative, model-based, dynamic measurement systems for the investigation and optimization of manufacturing and flow processes. For many years, one of the main research focuses has been on optical and thermographic measurement systems for analyzing the aero- and structural dynamics of wind turbine rotor blades during operation. The research began with ground-based measurement technology, and several of the institute’s own drones are now equipped with corresponding measurement systems. One of these, thanks to its internal combustion engine, is particularly well-suited for long flight times during offshore operations at wind farms in the North Sea.

Drone Days are particularly exciting for BIMAQ, as drones provide a suitable platform for delivering measurement systems to hard-to-reach locations. In this context, BIMAQ coordinates the DFG Priority Program 2433, “Measurement Technology on Flying Platforms,” in which 27 national research institutions are conducting basic research on drone-based measurement of parameters in the fields of geometry, position, vibrations and acoustics, solids and fluids, as well as gases and particles.
